  • Binocular vision assessment (ability to see using both eyes together), as it relates to eye coordination, depth perception, and eye movements, or in some cases, eye-hand coordination.
  • Colour vision evaluation.
  • Assessment of the health of the eye itself both inside and outside using a biomicroscope, ophthalmoscope and a dilated eye examination when indicated.

Notice to Contact Lens Wearers

At the end of your eye exam, Dr. Friedmann will provide you with an eye glass prescription only, which is the measure of your eye power (sphere, cylinder, axis and add power) at the time of your exam.

If you wish to purchase contact lenses, please take this prescription to any licensed contact lens dispenser. At this time, the qualified contact lens fitter will take the prescription you got from Dr. Friedmann and further specify what product or brand of contact lenses to use, its base curve and its radius, thus creating a contact lens prescription.

Thereafter, patients are usually fitted with trial contact lenses, taught how to safely insert them and counselled in the proper care and health risks associated with contact lens use. Patients will also be asked to return regularly for health checks relating to contact lens use.

Typically, a dispensing fee is charged by the fitter for this service. Please note that you do not have to have another optometric exam to generate a contact lens prescription
