We believe that no person should be denied access to optometric eye care because of mobility challenges. If a patient cannot leave their home, bedside, or care facility, Dr. Bryan Friedmann brings comprehensive eye care directly to them. He has been providing mobile optometry services in Greater Victoria since the year 2000, offering long-standing support to patients with limited mobility.

Dr. Friedmann provides mobile eye examinations for house-bound patients and individuals in nursing homes, hospitals, and rehabilitation facilities across the region. This service ensures patients who find travel difficult or unsafe still receive the essential eye care they need.

Each visit includes a full medical and functional eye assessment. When required, Dr. Friedmann provides prescriptions for medications, eye drops, or glasses. Mobile services are limited to comprehensive eye examinations, ensuring focused, unbiased, clinically driven care with no retail association or corporate ties.

The fee for a mobile exam is $375 (effective January 1, 2025).
This fee reflects several important factors:

• Significant investment in specialized mobile diagnostic equipment to deliver high-quality care outside the clinic.

• Travel time required to reach each patient’s location.

• Time away from the clinic, which reduces the number of patients who can be seen in-office that day.

Despite these challenges, we are committed to offering this longstanding service so patients with mobility issues continue to receive the thorough, respectful care they deserve. Mobile appointments are typically available on Friday afternoons.
