New PHO re: Masks
As BC moves ahead in its scaffolded reopening plan, businesses and other public venues are adjusting accordingly. Although masks are now not mandatory in indoor spaces, there are still some exceptions for hospitals and other medical professional centres.
The BC CDC guidelines (effective July 1 2021) still ask for masks to be worn by patients visiting a medical centre. This has not been changed with the most recent easing of mask requirements. Additionally, we remind patients that there is still an inability to properly socially distance in exam rooms and office spaces, so masks are still the most effective form of protection available. Until there is a secure and reliable way of sharing who has been vaccinated or not, wearing a mask is the safest option.
Thank you for your patience as we work to keep your visit to our clinic as safe and comfortable as we can. We are continuously reassessing and evaluating our next decision in light of public health updates. At this time, we ask that patients still enter the clinic with a mask, and that a mask stays on during the entirety of your exam until we can safely and surely announce otherwise.
